Café Bistro Chez Margot is a charming dining venue located in Designer Outlet Roermond. The restaurant’s interior was designed by the Belgian design agency Creneau International, which succeeded in creating an authentic Parisian bistro atmosphere. Distinctive elements such as globe lamps by Wim Roggeman, custom-made wall panels, and a mirrored wall inspired by the famous staircase in Coco Chanel’s boutique on Rue Cambon in Paris all contribute to the unique ambiance.

Over the years, the building has undergone several expansions. During one of these renovations, it was decided to install a glass roof, completing the architectural design. However, this new addition required appropriate solar shading. The owner enlisted Gehlen Zonwering from Sittard, who in turn brought us into the project to help develop a suitable solution.

For this project, we developed various solar shading systems, including trapezoidal, triangular, and rectangular shades. These custom solutions ensure that the entire glass roof is effectively protected against excessive sunlight and heat. A key aesthetic feature is that the fabric panels run tightly and parallel to the slope of the beams. This precise alignment minimizes the entry of direct sunlight, helping to keep the interior pleasantly cool during warm summer days.

From a technical perspective, the trapezoidal systems were equipped with an additional central cord to ensure the wide drawbar remains neatly aligned with the cassette, maintaining a clean and stable look. In addition, a special return pulley was implemented to guide the central cord back from the beams. Because the system is installed at an angle, a custom pulley capable of being mounted at 45 degrees was required to ensure the cord runs smoothly in a straight line toward the cassette. All systems are equipped with reliable Somfy motors and durable Soltis 92 solar shading fabrics.
