GJ - MW Series

IHK (Kiel)

The Industrie- und Handelskammer (IHK) in Kiel is a German Chamber of Commerce and Industry that represents the interests of approximately 70,000 businesses in the area spanning from the Baltic Sea to the Elbe River. As a public-law institution, the IHK supports economic development in its region and serves as an independent representative of the market.

The current building, known as the “Haus der Wirtschaft,” was designed by the architectural firm Kauffmann Theilig & Partner and was officially opened in November 2004. The design combines modern architecture with functionality and includes, among other things, a flexible conference, foyer, and exhibition space, as well as a five-story atrium.

For the slanted façade of this building, the IHK was seeking a solar shading solution. To this end, the IHK approached our partner Dubau. For the Chamber of Commerce, we produced six rectangular screens from our GJ – MW Series that protect the slanted façade from sunlight. The solar shading systems are equipped with Becker motors and Serge 600 sun protection fabrics.
