In the new Utrecht district of Cartesius stands Solo, an iconic residential complex completed between 2018 and 2023. The building offers 140 apartments, specifically intended for residents active in the cultural and arts sector.

For the solar shading of this special project, contractor Bouwbedrijf Wessels was looking for a reliable partner to equip the entire complex. In collaboration with our partner De Kroon Zonweringen, more than 400 ZIP Screens were produced and installed in the summer of 2025.

Because sustainability was a key requirement in this project, all ZIP screens were equipped with solar motors. The ZIP screens were constructed using materials from Plastex, including punched guides made of thermoplastic material. The systems were fitted with green shading fabrics, and all components were coated in a green finish to ensure the shading systems are fully integrated into the style of the complex.
